Seed Grant Program
Grants of up to $12,500 are offered six times a year to support very early stage research and development activities for new products and services that lead to the market. Activities include market research, intellectual property filing, and feasibility study. All projects must fall under one of Maine's seven targeted technology sectors.
Next deadline for seed grants is June 12, 2008, by 5:00 p.m. Proposals received after 5:00 p.m. will not be accepted.
PROPOSAL ASSISTANCE
If you are unfamiliar with the seed grant proposal process, MTI encourages you to consider drawing on outside assistance, whether paid or pro bono, and preferably with someone familiar with the MTI seed grant proposal process.
MTI partners with the Maine Small Business Development Center (SBDC), which provides no cost business and seed grant proposal counseling for technology entrepreneurs. With four to five weeks of lead time an SBDC counselor can provide assitance in resource planning, match development and project sizing. With two weeks or less a counselor can review a proposal, checking for completeness and verifying budget figures. For more information or to request counseling, visit the SBDC website www.mainesbdc.org.
